PREGNANCY DERMAPEN & MICRO-NEEDLING
One of the most popular modern Aesthetic Treatments today is micro-needling. Is this safe during pregnancy?
Overall, the answer to this question is yes, but with some careful provisos:
- The micro-needling should be sensible and not too aggressive. Little, controlled stimulation can get great results.
- Many serums and products used in treatments may be prohibited during pregnancy. Be sure to go to a qualified, knowledgeable therapist who knows what is safe during pregnancy.
- Gentle home micro-needling can also be safe, but the same applies to not over-doing it, and checking that the serums you are using are pregnancy safe.
- More advanced needling options that include PRP (platelet-rich-plasma) and skin boosting fillers will be left until after pregnancy and breastfeeding are over.

Pregnant skin may love micro-needling and you can see a beautiful, calming effect on the skin. It’s generally safe on all skin types and colors including sensitive and acne-prone skin. Needling may well improve pimples and breakouts!
Your therapist will assess your skin after all treatments, and ensure you are not in the minority whose skin reacts poorly to being needled. If we pick this up, the needling will be replaced with something else.
