Plexr

Plexr

Soft surgery for tightening, resurfacing, and targeted skin correction.

Plexr is a non-surgical plasma treatment designed to improve certain skin concerns that might otherwise require more invasive cosmetic or dermatological procedures. It uses a controlled micro-beam of plasma energy to treat the superficial skin without cutting and without damaging surrounding tissue.

Parkmore, Sandton • Doctor-led assessment • Non-surgical skin tightening

No cutting or stitches

Plexr works through controlled plasma sublimation rather than surgical cutting of the skin.

Topical anaesthetic only

The treatment is performed using numbing gel, without injectable anaesthetic.

Targeted tightening effect

About the treatment

Plexr is a handheld device that uses a focused plasma beam to sublimate the superficial part of the skin. This means it treats the epidermis in a controlled, localised way, while avoiding damage to underlying or adjacent tissues.

It is positioned as a “soft surgery” option for selected concerns where patients may want a less invasive alternative to traditional surgery.

Key benefits

  • No cutting of the skin and no stitches required.
  • Performed under topical anaesthetic only.
  • Quick in-clinic procedure with less downtime than surgery.
  • Stimulates collagen to support stronger, tighter, less lined skin.

Your appointment journey

A full consultation is used to assess whether Plexr is appropriate for your concern. The treatment itself is preceded by topical anaesthetic gel, after which the plasma handpiece is used to treat the selected area in a precise, localised way.

1
Consultation & suitability

Your doctor assesses the treatment area and decides whether Plexr is the right option for your skin and goals.

2
Numbing preparation

Topical anaesthetic gel is usually applied for about 45 minutes before the procedure.

3
Precise plasma treatment

The device creates tiny plasma dots on the skin, producing controlled sublimation and an instant tightening response.

4
Healing & aftercare

You’ll receive aftercare advice to help soothe the area and support normal healing over the next few days.

What to expect

The treated skin develops tiny brown dots that mature into small scabs. Once these come away, early tightening is visible, with further improvement continuing over the following 6 to 12 weeks as new collagen and elastin mature. Depending on the concern being treated, one session may be enough, while some patients need 2 to 3 treatments.

Frequently asked questions

Tap a question to expand.

How does Plexr work?

Plexr generates a tiny plasma beam, similar to a miniature lightning bolt. This creates a very small dot of skin sublimation, which triggers contraction and tightening of collagen fibres in the area.

Does the treatment hurt?

There can be some discomfort, but this is reduced with topical anaesthetic gel applied beforehand. Mild burning may be felt for around 24 hours afterwards, and cool compresses can be soothing.

Is there downtime?

Yes, there is some downtime. Swelling generally lasts around 2 to 3 days, and the tiny dots usually form small scabs that are mostly gone by about day 5.

How long does the appointment take?

Treatment time is usually around 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated, plus around 45 minutes beforehand for the anaesthetic gel. It is sensible to allow around 90 minutes in total.

Am I suitable for Plexr?

Suitability is decided during a full consultation. The page states that Plexr can be used on all skin types, although darker skin types may need extra care to reduce the risk of post-treatment hyperpigmentation.

How many treatments will I need?

Some results are visible after one treatment, but 2 to 3 sessions may sometimes be needed for the best overall outcome.

How long do results continue to improve?

Early results are seen once the scabs have come off, and further tightening usually continues over the next 6 to 12 weeks.
