When women are asked what they consider their two main signs of facial ageing, the answer is invariably loss of skin tone causing sagging of facial contours and the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and creases.

This phenomenon, which worsens with age and the menopause, is due to the loss of collagen, the protein found in all structures of the body, especially the skin, and which ensures the cohesion, elasticity and regeneration of tissue. With age, collagen diminishes and the skin becomes less firm and saggier. The face also loses fats (becoming more skeletal), becoming hollow on the sides, and heaviness accumulates under the chin, and the lower cheeks.

Solutions exist, but choices have to be made: either to restore volume, using targeted injections, or to tighten the skin, by means of more invasive interventions...

What is the VI Peel, and what makes it different?

VI Peel ImageThe VI PEEL is a unique and revolutionary medical grade chemical peel designed to achieve dramatic results after just one treatment.

Dr. Kalil, the inventor of the VI Peel, created the original version of the VI PEEL to treat his teenage daughter’s acne.  At the onset of his daughter’s acne, Dr. Kalil began to create a succession of peels, and each was an advancement of its own kind. The true breakthrough in the science of chemical peels came when he formulated the VI PEEL. For the first time major acids were tamed, and there was a practical and accessible way to improve skin quickly.

The VI PEEL will improve the tone, texture and clarity of the skin; reduce or eliminate age spots, freckles, and hyper-pigmentation, including melasma; soften lines and wrinkles; clear acne skin conditions; reduce or eliminate acne scars; and stimulate the production of collagen, for firmer, more youthful skin. Vi PEEL also works well in conjunction with lasers, injectables and medical facials.

The key ingredients of this peel are TCA, Tretinoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, Vitamin C and a mineral blend.

Pain drains the pleasure out of life.

Crying low res

Back pain, whether it be acute or chronic, radiates from your core and becomes the center of your existence. With the pain comes depressed mood, stiffness, less mobility and often very disrupted sleep, which leaves you even less able to cope with all life has in store for you.

Mesotherapy may be able to help you.

What is Mesotherapy?

Pioneered by the French physician Dr. Michel Pistor in 1952, Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that is widely used in Europe and elsewhere to treat various injuries, medical conditions and even skin aging. Tiny "medicinal bullets" are delivered directly into the middle layer of skin (mesoderm) or sometimes deeper into affected muscles by micro injections of combinations of serums that are highly specific to the condition being treated. By definition any medication injected into the skin, fat, muscles or tissues of Mesoderm is considered Mesotherapy.

The medicines used vary, but are used in microscopic quantities and include natural extracts, homeopathic agents, pharmaceuticals and vitamins.

Did you know that your earlobes can tell how old you are….?

As we age, just like the rest of our body, our earlobes lose volume, shrink and become more flaccid....The result is earlobes that look like deflated balloons!

The effect is most obvious on your ear-rings. You hear the repeated comment: "Your ear-ring is falling out!" ....when it's not!
The ear-ring just has less to hold on to, so it flops forward or hangs unevenly. Which is very irritating after what you spent on the gorgeous things!

So what? What can you do about it?

English pronunciation: /biˈspoʊk/ is a term employed in a variety of applications to mean an item custom-made to the buyer's specification (personalized or tailored).

The distinguishing point of "bespoke" is the person's total control over their needs. More generally, bespoke describes a high degree of "customization", and involvement of the client in the final result.

Botox® has become the short-hand term for non-surgical anti-ageing interventions. Just what is behind the treatment which so many are turning to?

Botox picFrown lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles around the mouth are just a few factors that can cause a person to look worn out, tired and old. Repetitive facial expressions over time can cause wrinkles and fine lines. An example would be the repetitive facial expression of furrowing the brow. Over time, this action may cause a permanent, vertical line or wrinkle between the eyes, giving the permanent appearance of being worried, angry, tired or unapproachable. You may have other reasons for being curious about BOTOX®.  Ask the doctor about BOTOX® to find out if it is right for you.

Fewer wrinkles will show up on the areas of the face that were treated with Botox® injections. This means fewer crow’s feet and frown lines on the forehead. Most also opt to have a non-surgical eyelift during the treatment to improve results.

Excessive sweating can have devastating emotional effects on one’s individual life. Many routine tasks become impossible chores, which is psychologically draining. Effective help is available….

The medical term for excessive sweating is hyperhidrosis. Affected people are constantly aware of their condition and try to modify their lifestyle to accommodate this problem. This can be disabling in professional, academic and social life, causing embarrassments. Excessive sweating of the hands interferes with many routine activities, such as securely grasping objects. Some hyperhidrosis sufferers avoid situations where they will come into physical contact with others, such as greeting a person with a handshake. Hiding embarrassing sweat spots under the armpits limits the sufferers' arm movements and pose. In severe cases, shirts must be changed several times during the day. Additionally, anxiety caused by self-consciousness to the sweating may aggravate the sweating. Excessive sweating of the feet makes it harder for patients to wear slide-on or open-toe shoes, as the feet slide around in the shoe because of sweat.

Some careers present challenges for hyperhidrosis sufferers. For example, careers that require the deft use of a knife may not be safely performed by people with excessive sweating of the hands. Employees, such as sales staff, who interact with many new people can be negatively affected by social rejection. Medically, the risk of dehydration can limit the ability of some sufferers to function in extremely hot (especially if also humid) conditions.

Do you grind your teeth at night and wake up with an aching jaw and teeth, and a radiating headache? Read more how Botox® may be of help for you….

On either side of our faces is a large muscle used in chewing called the masseter muscle. It is vital in the chewing mechanism, but in some people this muscle is too strong, or used too much as part of a reaction to life stressors. How this manifests is grinding of the teeth, or jaw clenching at night. What you feel in the morning is an aching jaw and teeth, and very often a headache that radiates from the jaw area.

There are many treatment that are vital to preserve the integrity of the teeth which may become damaged over time, as well as the jaw which may show signs of wear and tear from constant pressure. The symptoms felt are also unpleasant and manifest as chronic pain.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel treatment is a specific technique for skin renewal.  During this process a high concentration of glycolic acid and other substances like salicylic acid is applied to the skin for a short period of time and then chemically neutralised or removed to end the treatment. This procedure rapidly removes the damaged layer of surface skin cells revealing fresh skin and stimulating cell rebuilding and restructuring of deeper skin layers. This procedure can help the skin appear smoother, healthier, plumper and tighter.

What is Dermal Rolling?

The earliest form of dermal rolling can trace its roots back to ancient China, in the form of acupuncture. More recently, from France in the last 60 years comes the technique of nappage which forms the cornerstone of mesotherapy where micro injections place serums and other rejuvenating substances into the skin.

Dermal Rolling uses a high quality roller with 600 very fine needles to puncture the skin to a controlled depth over a large area. It creates thousands of microscopic channels into the skin. This has various effects:

  • Controlled micro-trauma to the skin activates the body’s healing cascade and stimulates collagen and elastin formation.
  • Micro-channels aid in infusing serums into the skin which have anti-aging, rejuvenating and anti-pigmentation functions. Serums penetrate the skin up to 1000 times more effectively than on intact skin.

Woman Face with Gloved handsThere is perhaps nothing is more gratifying for cosmetic patients than having a treatment with an immediate and often dramatic correction of wrinkles or imperfections...

Hyaluronic acid injections are termed dermal fillers. It is used to add volume to deflated or depressed areas in the skin. Dermal filler is a substance that can be used to improve the facial contour as well as reduce the depressions in the skin due to scars, injury or lines.

Dermal Fillers are used for facial augmentation. The therapy involves injections in the face to remove facial wrinkles and replace lost volume.

Dermal Fillers have a great many applications which include treating:

There are few areas as telling on a Woman’s body as her hands….

Our hands form the cornerstone of our working beings. We expose them to the elements daily in the form of repeated hand washing, and sun eposure through activities like gardening and driving. Our hands undergo the same aging as does the rest of our bodies. The skin becomes photo-aged and pigmented, loses elastin and collagen. Importantly, volume is also lost leaving the hand looking older and gaunt.

More men are conscious of their appearance…

Men currently represent 15-30% of Botox® users, and about 10% of Dermal Filler users, but their legions are growing, researchers say. Botox® is already the most popular non-surgical procedure amongst men in the USA and Britain. According to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2007 4.6 million procedures were performed, of which about 300,000 were on men. In Britain 20% of all Botox® users are men and in the past 12 months, there’s been a 50% increase in male patients signing up for the treatment.

Some of the stereotypes we have had about male attitudes towards cosmetic procedures are not borne out by evidence. Men are just as interested in appearing youthful despite the prevailing notion that men with wrinkles are sometimes considered more masculine and distinguished.

My male clients increasingly ask for solutions to appear more youthful, but interestingly, it is the requests to appear less aggressive or angry that are the most compelling. Many men have very strong faces with heavy expressions that leave them appearing less approachable and relaxed than their internal environments suggest.

Botox® and Dermal Fillers have proven to be the best way to make you look younger, calmer and look natural, unlike complicated, expensive and permanent plastic surgery. They can often achieve what even surgery cannot. This is important, especially in today's high-octane business world, where the face you put forward says as much about you as what's coming out of your mouth.
